Conveniently located in South West London, Battersea sits on the banks of the River Thames. The area is known for its excellent transport links to central London with Clapham Junction being the main train station providing links to London Victoria, Vauxhall and London Waterloo to name a few. Recent extensions to the Northern Line have provided an extra boost to Battersea with direct links to central London.
Because of its close proximity to the city, Battersea is highly sought after by young professionals. And the ever-popular Battersea Park is also a big hit with families due to its ample greenery and various facilities such as the boating lake, children’s petting zoo, all-weather sports pitches, and the Peace Pagoda.
Battersea has seen much of its riverside area populated with luxury apartment complexes; the most famous complex is the Montevetro building. With this increase in demand for living spaces, the area has seen plenty of new and fresh amenities pop up including restaurants and shops.
Battersea is also one of the oldest recorded place names of the London area, dating way back to the seventh century. Before the Industrial Revolution, much of the surrounding area of Battersea was farmland that was responsible for feeding much of the city.
