Walthamstow is located right at the very end of the Victoria tube line in the London borough of Waltham Forest. The area has seen a huge amount of regeneration take place which has led to it becoming one the most vibrant places to live. It’s an area that combines old east London charm with vibrant modern amenities. Walthamstow is popular with young professionals and families due to its strong transport links, unique independent shops and gorgeous parks.

This district is home to Europe’s longest outdoor street market with over 350 stalls offering everything from herbs and spices to affordable clothing. Walthamstow gives off huge suburban tranquillity vibes through its various nature reserves protecting native wildlife. The area also has an extremely popular arts and creative scene with its contributing role to the London grime music industry and diverse art venues that have opened in recent years.

Until the late 19th century, Walthamstow was a rural area with a small village at its centre and with the introduction of the railway, the area saw a huge growth in popularity. It has been home to some notable figures in transport. John Kemp Starley, originally from Walthamstow, designed the first modern bicycle in 1885 and Frederick Bremer built the first British motorcar in 1892 in his workshop on Connaught Road which is on display today at the Vestery House Museum.
